Electric Vehicles Jul 25, 2026 Damion Smy

The 2026 Geely EX2 electric hatchback arrives in Australia with competitive pricing, two model grades, and promising specs aimed at the growing EV market.

2026 Geely EX2 Electric Hatchback: Features, Pricing, and Competitors

The Geely EX2 has made a significant entrance into the Australian market after being the top-selling passenger car in China in 2025. This electric hatchback joins Geely's lineup alongside the mid-size Geely Starray EM-i plug-in hybrid and EX5 electric SUVs. Notably, this marks Geely's first hatchback offering in Australia, where it utilizes a similar platform as its larger siblings, featuring a five-door, five-seat configuration.

Geely is not a newcomer to the global automotive stage, having ownership stakes in well-known brands such as Volvo, Lotus, Polestar, and Zeekr. Geely returned to Australia in 2025 under its factory-backed operation, following a previous presence from 2011 to 2014 through a private importer. Currently, it operates around 43 dealerships across Australia, underscoring its commitment to the local market.

Two grades of the EX2 will be available upon launch: the entry-level EX2 Complete and the more adept EX2 Inspire. The Complete model boasts a claimed range of up to 252 km on a single charge, while the Inspire offers improved performance with a longer range of 345 km. While hatchbacks have waned in popularity in Australia, the timing of the EX2's debut is advantageous, coinciding with a notable surge in electric vehicle (EV) sales. The market saw nearly one in four new vehicle sales being electric in June.
